It's Hallowe'en.

It's the day Lily and James Potter were violently murdered in Godric's Hollow. It's the day that Harry Potter became the Boy Who Lived. It's the day that the Gryffindor ghost, Nearly Headless Nick's head was hacked until it held on only by the smallest sliver of skin (but it held on, as some things do, against all odds).

But today, it's the day that Harry Potter kisses Draco Malfoy for the first time since the war ended. His lips taste like pumpkin pie and spiced milk, and this sort of comfort should be unallowed, should be unattainable, but there it is happening.

They've earned this bit of peace. They've had too many monsters in the past to wear them as faces, and they dress up as themselves, because now, they don't have to hide.
